Impartiality & Independence

Impartiality is a fundamental principle of ARL Middle East certification activities. ARL maintains documented controls to identify, analyse, evaluate, treat, monitor and document threats to impartiality and conflicts of interest.

IMPARTIALITY & INDEPENDENCE

Impartiality Built Around Confidence

ARL Middle East shall not allow commercial, financial or other pressures to compromise impartiality.

IMPARTIALITY FRAMEWORK

Managing Impartiality Risks & Conflicts of Interest

ARL maintains documented controls for impartiality risks and conflicts of interest associated with conformity assessment activities.

01

Public Impartiality Commitment

ARL Middle East maintains a public commitment to impartiality and recognizes the importance of actual and perceived objectivity.

02

Identification of Impartiality Threats

Threats are identified on an ongoing basis, including threats arising from ownership, governance, management, personnel, shared resources, finances, contracts, marketing, commissions and other relationships.

03

Types of Threats

The management system considers threats including self-interest, self-review, familiarity or excessive trust, and intimidation.

04

Consultancy & Internal Audit Restrictions

ARL Middle East does not provide management-system consultancy and does not provide internal management-system audits where such activity would create an impartiality threat.

05

Personnel Independence & Conflict Declarations

Personnel and subcontractors who may influence conformity assessment activities are required to disclose relevant current or past relationships and potential conflicts of interest.

06

Separation & Cooling-Off Controls

Where previous consultancy, employment or other relationships could create an unacceptable threat, personnel are not assigned to the relevant certification activities or decisions.

07

Impartiality Risk Assessment & Committee

Where a threat is identified, ARL documents how the threat is eliminated or minimized and records residual risk. The Impartiality Committee provides a governance mechanism for reviewing matters affecting impartiality.

08

Monitoring, Complaints & Protection

Personnel, committees and external persons who could influence certification activities are expected to act impartially. Complaints and appeals are handled through controlled processes.
